In today’s world, appraisers must remain keenly aware of the quality standards expected by their clients, as well as the compliance obligations required by appraiser regulators. Many users of an appraiser’s services and appraiser regulatory agencies have expanded or amplified their quality standards in recent years as a result of recent events of financial turmoil involving valuation issues.
Defensible Appraisal Practices is an all-encompassing course designed to provide a comprehensive look at best practices for appraisers in order to recognize and meet those expectations. Common areas of deficiencies and inadequacies in the appraisal process are also discussed.
About the Instructor: Bryan S. Reynolds is a registered agent with the TN State Board of Equalization, Certified General Real Property Appraiser and an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor. Mr. Reynolds has been an In-State Instructor for the International Association of Assessing Officers, IAAO, and an instructor for George K. Cox, MAI, SRA Education, an adjunct senior faculty member of The Columbia Institute, an instructor for a private Indiana educational firm and has been an approved appraisal instructor in 31 states. He has testified and appeared in various courts, planning and zoning boards as both an expert and as an agent making valuation arguments before local and state hearing officials and Administrated Law Judges. He was one of two appraisers chosen by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to attend an invitation only Level One Investigator Training presented by The Appraisal Foundation/AARO.
Reynolds regularly serves as a guest speaker at national events and recently returned as a featured speaker at the 5th annual Appraisal Summit and Expo in Las Vegas and lectures regularly to the Texas Association of Appraisers, ATA. He has authored several articles published by The Appraisal Buzz, The Appraisal Scoop and Working Real Estate Magazine and was also a contributing author of Appraising in a Depressed Market which is taught throughout the country. Reynolds was the only selected appraiser panelist speaking on behalf of appraisers during a 2010 live broadcast in Las Vegas debating the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act hosted by Global DMS and was recently also interviewed for their online blog. Most recently Mr. Reynolds has been assisting appraisers across the country with complaints and provides support to appraisers and attorneys regarding the complaint, hearings and disciplinary processes.
Reynolds is the owner of Bryan S. Reynolds & Associates, Reynolds Appraisal Service and a partner in the ad-valorem consulting firm The Bryclan Group, www.thebryclangroup.com He provides various educational offerings, mentoring, residential and commercial valuation services, consulting and litigation support services throughout the region as well as being available for lectures worldwide and is well known for his Think Outside the “Check” Box approach.
