Chattanooga Theatre Centre (at Coolidge Park)
DESCRIPTION
REALTORS® are encouraged to attend this public meeting, which will provide the opportunity to learn about the Center and its mission.
At their July 28, 2016, meeting, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the following position statement:
The Greater Chattanooga Association of REALTORS® is in favor of the Medal of Honor Heritage Center being built on the 1/10th of an acre plot of the Coolidge Park land by the roundabout on Tremont Street. With the park being named after Charles H. Coolidge for having earned the medal of honor during World War II, it seems only fitting to have the Medal of Honor Heritage Center be located in the park.
Mr. Coolidge also supports the Heritage Center being in the park that was named in his honor. The parcel of land where the Heritage Center would be located is not as well used as the rest of the park and is the perfect spot for the Heritage Center. Without heroes like Charles Coolidge and other medal of honor recipients, we may not be enjoying the freedom of having great green spaces like we do in Chattanooga, TN and in Coolidge Park.
This Medal of Honor Heritage Center is a great use of our public land in order to celebrate the sacrifices that the military has made for our freedom.

GCAR is pleased to co-host this annual joint luncheon with the Home Builders of Greater Chattanooga.
Event Sponsors: EPB Fiber Optics, First Volunteer Bank, PrimeLending, Professional Real Estate Inspection Services and SunTrust Mortgage.
This year's guest speaker is Jessica Lautz, Managing Director, Survey Research and Communications for the National Association of REALTORS®, who will present on the latest findings from the Profile of Home Buyers & Sellers and Profile & Generational Trends on the motivations of home buyers and sellers. The reports show while there are shifting demographics of home buyers there is a constant demand for homeownership and an increased importance to the role of the real estate agent in the transaction.
Lautz also will speak to the hurdles to homeownership such as a student loan debt among recent home buyers and the burden the debt has to younger generations of potential home buyers. Also included will be a dive into the latest research from the Remodeling Impact Report, which not only includes the cost and value of home remodeling projects, but also the increased joy homeowners have in their home once completing interior and exterior home improvement.
Can't join us in person? No problem. Click here to go to GCAR's livestream channel, where you can watch (and even ask questions) from your own location.
Speaker Bio: Jessica Lautz is the Managing Director of Survey Research and Communications. Jessica started at NAR in 2007. The core of her research focuses on demographic trends for both NAR members and housing consumers, and issues such as: how housing preferences shift in an ever changing market place, the consistent trends of consumers for the desire to own a home, consumers search to find a real estate agent, and generational trends.
She writes annual studies including the Member Profile, the Commercial Member Profile, the Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, the Home Buyer and Seller Generational Trends report, the Investment and Vacation Home Buyers Survey, the Profile of Buyers’ Home Feature Preferences, Remodeling Impact, HOME Survey and the Profile of Real Estate Firms. Jessica discusses the results of these studies in blog articles, Twitter chats, webinars, as well as in major media outlets and keynote presentations.
Jessica also manages the Research content and presence on Realtor.org and social networking sites. She reviews, schedules and coordinates posting on Research’s blog and social media websites to ensure there is a variety of content that engages members and consumers on topics of the day relevant to these audiences.
Additionally, in conjunction with the Market Research Department, Jessica provides association-wide survey review and oversight in order to assist other departments with designing the best survey instruments and utilizing proper methodologies. Jessica provides guidance on survey best practices and educates NAR Departments and committees on how to achieve the best survey results.
Jessica is a graduate of the American University Master’s of Public Policy Program and has undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Law and Justice from Central Washington University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate of Real Estate from Nottingham Trent University. Her thesis is: "Is the Dream Still Alive? Most agents start their day knowing they need to take listings and sales but do not understand how many listings and sales, and at what average price, they need to achieve their income goal, and the importance of having a system to track actual sales results to plan. Those that start their day with a plan know what activities they need to do; those without a plan react to the circumstances they encounter throughout their day. Those with a plan end their day having advanced towards their goals; without a plan often end their day frustrated due to a lack of accomplishment. With 80% of agents failing within their first year, and 65% within five years, supports that many who fail, lack of do not follow, a business sales plan. A plan that states their goals, defines the strategies supporting the goals that they will focus their resources on, and the activities, the to-do’s, that bring the strategies to life.
How This Course Will Benefit Agents: Through a provided template, participants work to define their business sales plan and tracking system required to build a successful and sustaining career.
